Volkswagen has a number of exciting surprises planned for next week's 2013 Detroit Auto Show, including the reveal of a seven-seat crossover concept that hints at a future production model.
On top of this, we're also promised a new performance concept Passat, a local debut of the Cross Coupe TDI concept from last year, and several new R-Line options.
Two of those options are for the latest R-Line 2014 Volkswagen Touareg TDI diesel available on either the V-6 or V-6 gasoline model VR6.
Also for 2014, the smaller it gets the sporty Tiguan R-Line option as well, and it will also get developed with Volkswagen's premium Fender audio system as an option.
Like most of the R-Line packages we've seen thus far, the new Touareg and Tiguan packages kits include aggressive appearance, new interior enhancements, special badging, alloy wheels and sporty.
For the Touareg, the R-Line package, which builds on the premium Touareg Lux trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a unique front bumper, side skirts, R-Line badges, LED tail-lights, and oval-shaped dual exhaust tips. Inside, it adds aluminum trim on the dashboard, center console and doors, stainless-steel scuff plates, aluminum sport pedals and an R-Line steering wheel.
No changes are made to the powertrains, which means the TDI model's 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine rates at 225 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, while the VR6's 3.6-liter mill rates at 280 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.
Availability and pricing will be announced closer to the launch of the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg's sales in the third quarter of the year.
